About the Product
About This Console:
Our Atari consoles come with everything that you need to set it up! One joystick controller, the console itself, RF cord, and the power cord. No games are included.
This model is what the average Atari player might find, a woodgrain 4-switch model made in the early 80's. Also known as the 'Woody', this one came after the Heavy Sixer and Light Sixer models, and the only big differences are that the difficulty switches and channel selector switch were moved to the back of the console, as well as the ports and switches now being at an angle for ease of access. Otherwise, this one is functionally identical to it's predecessors.
This model was the first to be sold in France!
If you have ANY questions about the quality of this console, please give us a call or shoot us an email under the contact tab. We will be more than happy to shoot you some pictures!
Some games may require different controllers such as the Paddle controllers, Keyboard controllers, Trak-Ball controllers, or Driving controllers. All other controllers are sold separately.
About The Atari 2600:
The Atari 2600 was made and produced originally in 1977 as the Atari VCS (Atari Video Computer System), and rebranded to Atari 2600 in November 1982. Atari was originally only an arcade company before switching over to the home market to sell their games in living rooms across America. With only 128 bytes of RAM, the cheaper MOS Technology 6507 CPU, and 16 entire colors on-screen, they sold an estimated 12 million VCS systems and 120 million cartridges.
The Atari 2600 was not the first in the market, but it definitely helped shape the future of the entire video games industry.
472 games were officially released during this system's lifetime, and people still create brand new games for the system! Some sites say that there could be up to 900 games total including homebrew titles, but there are no official numbers. Atari themselves are also rereleasing old titles under their Atari 2600+ line, some of which are compatible with even the original systems.
Even with all this success, the monster known as Atari soon toppled. Thanks to poor sales of their third-party game developers' rushed and terrible games, and an oversaturated market, people started not trusting Atari, and not wanting to gamble on a new game with their money. It got to the point where Atari sent 14 trucks full of unsold cartridges and hardware to a landfill in the New Mexico desert in late 1983, including the infamous E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

- A Note on PRICING/AVAILABILITY & CONDITION DISCREPANCIES:
All games are priced using Pricecharting ("PC" gathers an average of prices) and a heavy dose of discretion. Prices and availability are subject to change. We try to keep prices as steady and consistent as we can, but we don’t control the economy around these games nor do we control the rate at which they are sold to us.We are a small but dedicated team here at Nostalgic Video Games, and sometimes individual discretion is used when inventorying and pricing these games. Due to the sheer amount, influx, and outflow of our stock, we aren’t able to individually photograph every game we list for sale, so we work off of this bulk-style inventory system to deliver games to you as efficiently as possible! If you disagree with the condition of the game you received, let us know and we will work with you to make sure you’re satisfied!
- A Note on LABELS/STICKERS:
All of our games will be stickered and labeled BY US! Every game we inventory will have at least 2 labels:
- A larger inventory barcode tag, usually on the front bottom right corner of the box, but may be located in another corner or on the back depending on the case's art.
- And a price tag along the spine of the game.
Some games will have the same type of price tag as the spine on the front of the game as well for front-faced display in our brick-and-mortar store. Labels will usually NOT be placed directly onto cardboard boxes/sleeves or a sealed game, but cheaper games or cardboard sleeves over standard cases will sometimes be directly tagged. If a game’s insert/cover art is directly tagged by a previous retailer, we will not remove it and risk damage to the insert.
- A Note on DISC CONDITION/RESURFACING:
Most of our disc-based games will be sent through our industrial disc-resurfacing machines to polish and buff out any scratches on the discs. We check every disc by hand and some with very minor scuffs/smudging will be deemed fit for sale and skip this process. However, Blu-ray discs and Gamecube Mini-discsCANNOTbe run through our polishers. These games are all checked and determined if they are fit for sale. Thankfully Blu-ray discs (PS4/Xbox One and newer) are pretty hardy.Every Gamecube disc that comes through our store is put into a console and tested to make sure it starts up. Gamecube discs are SUPER finicky about being polished, so if the game looks scratched up but still plays, we won’t risk polishing it. Check out our video about Gamecube preservation for more:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Huu8zDMS4MMIf a game you purchase is scratched and not reading, contact us and we will work with you to make sure you’re satisfied.
- A Note on FAKES/REPRODUCTIONS:
We NEVER sell fake games. Games identified as fake are destroyed with extreme prejudice (Follow us on youtube for that)If a game you received is indeed a fake and somehow slipped through our checks, let us know IMMEDIATELY and we will work with you to make sure you’re satisfied. We mark ALL of our Cartridge boards to ensure no swapping with returns. Some of the items we carry from distributors are recently OFFICIALLY LICENSED rereleases of older games from companies like Retrobit. These will be CLEARLY STATED as official REPRODUCTIONS/collectors editions as well as have official imagery from the manufacturer.
